About the project

Many factories add chemicals to treat water or separate substances, and those chemicals then have to be removed again at a high cost in energy and money. The ECO project tries to avoid this by using electric fields and local pH changes right next to electrodes, so the right conditions are created only where they are needed. In this post Will make and test advanced electrode materials and electrochemical cell parts for cleaner water purification, and study how material surfaces and interfaces drive the reactions. Will join a consortium of five PhD researchers at Twente, TU Delft, Wageningen, Copenhagen and Groningen, with companies such as FrieslandCampina, Shell, Nobian and Ecolab. The role includes writing papers, presenting at conferences and about 10% teaching and student supervision.
